Biographical Background

Dan's 39-year journalism career spans the gamut from broadcast analyst and commentator, to writer, author, and entrepreneur.   

Dan has held full-time editorial positions with American Express, Motor Club of America, the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, The Bergen Jewish News, the North Jersey  Herald-News, Woman's World magazine, and M. Silver Associates (a travel-oriented PR firm). 

The author or co-author of 34 baseball books and more than 25,000 articles about baseball, Dan has contributed to Baseball Digest, The Sporting News, MLB.com, the All-Star Game and World Series programs, plus annuals, other publications, and baseball card projects. The former Associated Press sportswriter is managing editor of BallTalk, a syndicated weekly radio baseball show, and is president of the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA).

Dan has won awards for writing, editing, graphic design, and public service from the Working Press Association of New Jersey (now Garden State Journalists Association), NATJA, and  the International Association of Business Communicators (IABC).

The originator of the baseball theme cruise concept, Dan has created, coordinated and hosted more than 20 such cruises, featuring former major-league stars Ralph Branca, Roger Craig, Carl Erskine, Darrell Evans, Bob Feller, Monte Irvin, Larry Jansen, Fergie Jenkins, Jay Johnstone, Jim Kaat, Clyde King, Clem Labine, Don Larsen, Eddie Mathews, Bill Mazeroski, Lindy McDaniel, Stan Musial, Brooks Robinson, Red Schoendienst, Enos Slaughter, Jeff Torborg, Bill White and Billy Williams.

Dan also created and produced "The Baseball Minute" and "Diamond Dust" audio and visual spots, both available as commercial vehicles for current or potential MLB outlets and/or sponsors.
